“Cole showed up at 5:47 in the morning after the February blizzard. My driveway was clear before I’ve even let the dog out. I’ve used three plowing services. None compare.”
Weekly mows, sharp edges, fertilizer schedules tuned to your soil. We treat every yard like it’s the only one on our list.
When the salt trucks roll, so do we. Driveways cleared before sunrise, walkways de-iced, contracts billed flat — no surprise storm fees.
We started as one truck and a push mower. Today we run a full crew of nine, two plow rigs, and enough mowers to keep half of Downriver looking sharp. The promise is the same: do it right, charge fair, show up when we say we will.
Sharp blades, clean lines, bagged or mulched — your choice. We rotate cutting patterns to keep grass standing strong.
Auto-trigger at 2", priority routes for seniors and emergency contracts. Cleared before your morning coffee finishes brewing.
Five-step program calibrated to Michigan turf. Pre-emergent in March, slow-release through summer, winterizer come October.
Hand-shoveled steps and porches, calcium-chloride application. Pet-safe formulas available on request.
Triple-shredded hardwood, dyed black or natural. Edged crisp with a half-moon spade — no plastic borders.
Gutter cleaning, leaf hauling, pressure washing, holiday lights. If it's outside the house, we probably handle it.
Started by Frank Hartwell with a Ford F-150 and a pull-behind. Frank Jr. took over in ’06. Now his sons Cole and Mason run the rigs. Same family, same standards.
Frank Hartwell quit his factory job after the 1986 layoffs and started cutting grass for neighbors at $15 a yard. By summer’s end he had 22 weekly clients and a route map drawn on a napkin.
After three lean winters of unemployment checks, Frank welded a plow mount onto the F-150 himself. Word traveled fast on the east side. By ’96 we had three plow trucks and a list of 80 driveways.
With his dad easing into retirement, Frank Jr. modernized the books, hired full-time crew, and locked in commercial contracts with three Wyandotte schools and a strip mall on Eureka.
Nine crew members, two plow rigs, six mowers, one fertilization van. We service 1,240 properties across Wyandotte, Riverview, Trenton, Southgate, and Allen Park. Frank Sr. still rides shotgun on the first snow of every year.

“They re-sodded my whole back yard after my dog absolutely destroyed it. Showed up on time, gave me a fair price, didn’t try to upsell me on stuff I don’t need. Just good people.”
“Hartwell maintains the lawn at our school district’s three buildings. Reliable for over a decade. Quote is the price. No nickel-and-diming. Rare in this business.”
